About Gimme Art

Gimme Art is an international marketplace of original, large-format art as affordable editions. Gimme art showcases established, award winning artists and professional media designers who regularly exhibit in national and international shows as well as emerging artists at the start of a promising career.

One of the biggest inhibitions people have when it comes to starting an art collection is the price barrier. Sticker shock can strike fear in the hearts of many-- forcing many into a permanent "observer" mode; a lifelong renter, if you will, instead of taking the plunge into home ownership. Gimme Art is reaching out to a new investor, one with a bit less cash, but not necessarily a lesser eye for detail.

We created Gimme Art with the hope of making limited edition art more accessible for a new generation of collectors and art enthusiasts. Guest curators, as well as you (the nascent collector with a discerning eye), determine what goes into production to create our diverse and exciting portfolio.

Gimme Art offers selected works as hand-signed and numbered original large-format prints in editions ranging from 100-250 prints. This printing of a limited edition of photography and digital art enables us to offer affordable prices ranging from $350-600 USD; thus, Gimme Art is able to offer large format, high-grade art with museum quality.

Generally, galleries offer experienced collectors, institutions and museums large-format single print editions, or works with 3-5 prints, costing 4-5 figure prices. As an alternative, there are the mass-produced, ubiquitous masterpiece reproductions found in museum shops and mass retailers. There is a gap in the market for those who have outgrown industrially produced art, and are looking for affordable and authentic works. Gimme Art was established to fill that space by creating a new space for art appealing to new collectors and all art lovers.

Gimme Art is based in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, California.

Gimme Art Limited Editions

All prints are hand signed and numbered by the artists via a signature label. This signature sticker contains, with limited editions, the number in series and the artist's signature, and is affixed to the back of the work. The signature label functions as an authentification certificate. The owner of a work in a limited edition of, for example, 150 copies shares the rights to the artwork with just 149 other people worldwide. In doing this, the purchase is made affordable for everyone.

If the number of prints is specified, this is the maximum number of copies in which the work appears in the given format. Gimme Art agrees in a contract with each artist as to how often an artwork can be printed.

Besides the one or two defined edition sizes at Gimme Art, the artist reserves the right to offer a few print to galleries and museums. This is of course essential for the work to become known. The artist also retains the right to release additional editions in different size and print mediums to any gallery, museum or retailer of their choice. If a collector should like to purchase an entire series, it is possible to enter an agreement with Gimme Art and the artist, where the print cannot be re-released in any format.

Affordable — How?

Gimme Art and the artist determine the individual price and size of each edition. The artists’ popularity and past exhibitions and awards, the significance of the work, and its size and the number of prints in the edition all play a role. For example, a gallery or museum work measuring 48 inches by 60 inches in an edition of five prints, is sold for $15,000. Gimme Art would increase the number of prints by a factor of 40, each buyer must only pay a 40th – or just $375 per print. Due to higher production costs, the calculated price would be rounded up to $450. This is the underlying principle behind limited editions – affordable prices achieved by offering somewhat larger editions with no reduction in artistic quality or craftsmanship.

Bigger is Better

Gimme Art specializes in large-format works—art that allows you to make a statement, whether hanging in your home or office, or given as a gift. The measurements of the photographic paper are always given. In most instances, works for sale are also shown in the homes and workplaces of others who own a piece from the edition.

Museum Archival Quality Prints

Gimme Art Editions are Color Lambda or, in some instances, Giclee Prints. Our Color Lambda prints are the equivalent of modern photographic prints, and are printed on Fujicolor Crystal or Kodak Endura archival photo-paper. By using photographic paper and the traditional chemical procedure of developing photographs, Lambda printers produce brilliant original images.

Exclusivity

If not otherwise stated, all editions displayed are printed by Gimme Art and are currently, therefore, available exclusively from Gimme Art.

Diverse Selection

Gimme Art welcomes submissions. Both established and emerging artists are invited to submit original digital art and photography for consideration. Gimme Art also welcomes your comments about pieces under consideration for print. Both the Gimme Art staff and guest curators are interested in public reaction to each work. Critique and commentary are no longer exclusive to an elusive set of art critics. The art world is more attune to public opinion and selection. Submit your own work for consideration by first creating an account, and then clicking "Submit Design" from the top menu (only available when logged in).
