Julia Svetlova

- Biography
Julia Svetlova:
Julia Svetlova is an award winning photographer from St Petersburg. Julia has been an instrumental artist in the underground Lomographic movement, which is currently gaining international momentum with its largest exhibition, the LomoWorldWall, consisting of 100,000 Lomographic images, on exhibit this September in Trafalgar Square, London. Julia uses an LCA (Lomo Kompact Automat) which is a Russian developed spy camera that was designed for the KGB in the 1970s. The revived Lomographic device has since developed into a chic artist’s street camera with its unique focal range providing half-sharp, half-blurry, richly coloured images. Recently, Julia was head-hunted by the prestigious Photographers Gallery in London and labeled one of the most exciting contemporary image-makers in Europe.
